I did this picture for Camille K. It is basically her as the Harley Quinn from the Batman series. More information on the Harley can be found here. I made some variation in Harly Quinn’s costume from the Batman Cartoon and I did a lot of research on other types of harlequin clowns to get some variation on how I would do her mask / war face paint. In the end I decided that I would go with face paint rather than a true mask, because I wanted Harley to have a bit of a Geisha / Mime feel, and I wanted to stay with the rules set by The Dark Knight movie. Also the rules on whether harlequin clowns wore mask or face paint. I decided to go with both as it wouldn’t really matter one way or the other. There where no rules on whether Harlequins wore hats or not and even in the Batman mythology, Harley has been depicted as not wearing a hat in some iterations. So I went with the creative licenses of using her hair as a separator of colors and how it works into her costume being that this depiction has a ethnic bend. Lastly the flower is an illustration of the client ‘s favorite brand. Here’s to hope that she likes everything I have done.
