The wheels of contemplation have been churning and churning as I go in to the second year of recession with a decreased income, and a website that cost more to maintain that it currently pays. I have been looking a lot recently at stories over the internet that scheme to make money off of your website, and I have skeptical at best. They say the only thing that holds you back in life is yourself, but what about your morals or beliefs? It seems that the only way to make cash that will not only let you survive but will also create a comfortable cushion for yourself or you lifestyle (and I’m not talking a heavy style of life) if to do a deal with the INTERNET devil; at least on the internet side of things.
Make a Website about your favorite hobby…
Well I did that, and I had it going for almost 10 years plus, and well I haven’t seen a dime in revenue yet. Maybe its because of content. It is no secret that I produce images with nudity in them. Truth be told though, I just recently started trying to make money, by offering a Store, a place for buying prints of my work, affiliate links that actually sell the content they display. And so far it hasn’t worked out. I try and sell the stuff I’m most into, but it doesn’t seem to be the stuff the audience is into. I have to admit that I live in a very conservative area so self promoting is hard to achieve. Anyway step one is down.
Make a website about how to make money on a website…
Searching Google this seems to be a topic that is an extremely popular. Why not have a site or blog about how to make money using your site or blog? well the funny thing about those sites are that they use every trick in the book to get you the unsuspecting visitor to buy a book on the subject, or to visit another site that is paying money to them to tell you the same thing; which comes down to BY THIS BOOK. I’m not saying its illegal, as the user is getting an end product. I’m just calling it snake oil because in the end you get a book on how to use the internet to make money and all you really learn is that you helped some other salesman make money by purchasing that book. Not to mention the countless number of affiliate links that person made money off of to get you to the website that is selling the goods. I’m sure there is a market for this sort of thing or people would not be creating sites around it for the purpose of making money doing it.
P0rn…
Now this is the most lucrative business on the net… at least that’s what they say. It has become big business to become an affiliate of porn sites, set up a a portal to a seller site and reap the rewards of selling the same sex scenes shot with different people at different angles on different sets, in different styles. I’m not going to be hypocritical and say that I as a male am total against this type of thing (As I more than likely enjoy it myself) but it just seems to be well redundant. The newest thing to come out of porn, unofficially is the tubesite. Basically how this works is that you create a site and then you get an affiliate.l you create a membership kind of catch, but you also offer to show the scenes for free (much like Youtube). you have the option of throwing in memberships for uploading; where members can upload / or download content (you can even place a cap for non paying members) and you can also place affiliate links to movies that show up to show you a scene, and entice your viewer to purchase the content, or redirects you to another site which you can purchase the content from there. There by it makes you users, lurkers, and members feel like they are getting something for free. The reason I say its redundant is because there is no way of telling how old the content actually is, If you have seen the stuff you are viewing before, of if it just stuff linked for m a link from a link. Maybe new porn with a different coat of paint is being made everyday and that keeps it going and going, but it seems that its a deal you will have to make that ends up gaining you a lot of money but killing your reputation in the process.
So what Am I thinking about doing?
I’m not going to lie to my audience, I have been so upset lately with the way money is made, and upset with the fact that it seem the way to make a real living is not buy doing the honest thing. I have been trying to keep it clean, while playing around with the darker side of things, but I’m starting to engage in researching the black hat ways of doing things. Perhaps a balance can be made, or does it have to be the all or nothing approach. You tell me.
